2023 has seen our networks continue to grow and there has been more activity than ever, as the Pathology Network has now reached developing status. Our Imaging Network is one of only seven networks in England to have reached developing status. We would like to thank you for playing your part and your continued contributions to the Greater Manchester Imaging and Pathology networks.
This year has seen lots of highlights for both networks including the technical go-live of Digital Pathology at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, funding secured for a new MRI scanner at Tameside and key appointments to strengthen the programme team to deliver our projects at pace.
We are also one of the 11 imaging networks to secure funding from the AI Diagnostics Fund for the implementation of AI for chest X-Ray and CT reporting. We will be working with Greater Manchester Cancer Alliance to implement a new AI tool to analyse chest X-Ray images across eight trusts in the GM Imaging Network.
2024 will be an exciting year as we expand our portfolio with a new Physiological Sciences Network, Endoscopy Network and Pharmacy Transformation projects in the region. This growth will see us become the Greater Manchester Diagnostics Network with a new Senior Responsible Officer (SRO) following the departure of Silas Nicholls from Wigan, Wrightington and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust. Roger Spencer, Chief Executive of The Christie is now SRO for the GM Diagnostics Network.
We look forward to working more collaboratively across the region to further improve services for patients and staff.
On behalf of the network team, we would like to wish you a happy and healthy festive season.
